The Best Time for Roof Replacement

Unless you’ve had a new roof installed in the last five or ten years, thoughts about the best time to replace a roof might be in the back of your mind. Or it might be front and centre if you suspect that you have actual issues with the roof.

If asked, many homeowners might say that the best time of the year for roofing repair or replacement is in the warm summer months or even in the fall after summer vacations are done and the kids are back at school.

But ask any roofing company in Toronto, and they will give you a different answer.

Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Begin Planning Your Roof Replacement

Yes, even though we’re suffering through winter weather, this is the perfect time to start planning to
repair or replace your roof. If you start now, your roofing company can start inspecting your roof and schedule any repairs or installation work to be done during the best time for roof replacement: springtime.

Here are just a few reasons why the spring is an ideal time for roof repairs and replacement.

  1. It’s a Slower Time of Year for Roof Work – While summer may have more good weather days, that makes it the busiest time of year for roofing contractors. If you decide you want a new roof in the summer, you may have to wait until the fall for the work to be done. But you can get the work done a lot sooner by starting now and getting it done before the busy season starts.
  2. It Can Cost Less – Roofing companies will typically start receiving cost increases from their suppliers in the spring. This means that signing a contract before these price increases take effect may save you money.
  3. It Doesn’t Affect Your Roof Warranty – Many homeowners may be hesitant to replace their roof in colder temperatures due to concerns that it might affect the roof or the warranty that protects it. But installing asphalt shingle roofing in the spring makes no difference to how long the roof will last or its warranty. Shingle manufacturers offer the same warranty protection regardless of the time of year the roof is installed.
