Based upon how serious the problem is, and what type of material has been used on your home, here are some of your options:
Duct Tape Saves the Day
If your house has a roofing system made of thermoplastic roofing, fixing a leak may be as simply as finding where the leak is located, climbing onto your roof, cleaning the area, and patching the leak with duct tape. Duct tape is water and weather resistant, and is safe to use for patching this type of roofing system. You should not consider using this type of patch if your house is not equipped with a thermoplastic roofing system.
Sealant
Sealant is wonderful because it will work on any type of roof if you are in need of emergency repairs. Roof taping is the most common form of sealant. Be sure to thoroughly clean your roof and apply pressure to the tape after laying each section. You must fully cover any damaged or leaking section in order to make the repair actually work.
