Custom Windows – A Buyer’s Guide
WindowsWhen you are choosing windows for your house, it is always a good idea to customize designs to suit your individual taste, house structure and indoor décor. Custom windows are not very expensive.
However, it all actually depends on the type of window you finally choose as well as the style, colour and material. It helps to learn more about the concept of custom windows and how you should go about choosing one.
Look at various window designs
Look at various window designs before you make your final decision. When you find a few that you like, add your own design elements to the actual design. Make a couple of sample window designs on paper to have a visual of what it would finally look like. And then decide what would suit your house best.
Talk to your architect
When you have a fixed idea of the kind of design you would like, involve your architect in the process. An architect would be able to tell you which design would help insulate the house while giving it a glamorous look at the same time.
Your design should depend on the number of windows
If you have a preference for French windows, note that they won’t look good all around the house. French windows look good in living room areas or dining rooms. However, if you do not mind mixing designs across the house then picking a variety of designs isn’t a bad idea. But be careful not to choose designs that don’t gel well together.
The material you choose should match the overall décor of the house
If your house has wooden flooring, then ideally wooden windows would look great. Or even glass windows with wooden borders. Similarly, if you have tiled floors then complete glass windows may suit it well.
Always remember that when it comes to custom windows, you must choose something that matches with the overall décor of the house. And it goes without saying, never compromise on quality when you choose a material.
Colours that match your location and theme
It is common for countryside homes to boast of white painted houses with bright red windows. Coloured windows on white backgrounds are a common site in certain neighbourhoods. So, in this case it wouldn’t be odd to choose a coloured window for your home.
Similarly, when you choose windows for your house and want a unique colour, choose a colour that goes well with the rest of the house and the neighbourhood. You wouldn’t want your home to look out of place after all, would you?
Easy maintenance
Windows are probably the first part of the house that get dirty every day. For your custom windows, choose a design and structure that is easy to maintain. The more complicated the design the tougher it will be for you to keep it clean, to repair it when needed etc.
At the end of the day, when it comes to choosing custom windows, go with what your heart tells you.
